Our client is one of the highest performing Colleges in London, rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in June 2016. The College has reinvigorated its focus on improving the student experience, raising student aspirations and delivering consistently good and outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. As a major provider of further, higher and adult education to over 10,000 students, their staff have quality at the heart of everything they do.

Learning Resources is an area of the College which delivers a vital service in supporting learning and professional practice.  They have three learning resources centres; the main LRC, the Undergraduate Centre and the LRC at their Creative Industries Centre. In addition, the team manages the college’s virtual learning environment.

They are now looking to appoint an Information Assistant to join them on a 1 year fixed term contract, working term time only.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of library and information work, working as part of the Learning Resources Centre Team which provides a wide range of support services and a broad collection of e-resources and print resources to staff and learners.

Within the role, you will undertake the Learning Resource Centre’s comprehensive staff training programme which covers all aspects of the Learning Resources Service. You will support staff and students on a wide range of courses and work in a variety of LRC work areas, including front line customer service delivery, student induction to the LRC and the development and maintenance of resources collections, both print and online.

This post is intended for graduates wishing to gain experience of library and information work before undertaking a qualification in these areas of work. If this is you, then they would love to hear from you! All that they ask is that you are qualified to Level 4 (in any discipline) and have experience of working in a busy customer-facing and customer-focused environment.

Able to adopt a flexible approach to work and manage time effectively, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills which will allow you to handle queries, deliver short induction presentation and explain LRC services. Excellent general IT skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are a must, as is an ability to work effectively as a team member.

Closing Date: 26th July 2017
