Head of IT Operations
Experian have an exciting vacancy for a Head of IT Operations within the Experian Background Checking Business. Experian Background Checking provides employment and tenant screening products and services to organisations across the UK. Background Checking is a high growth business within the Experian portfolio, with significant investment planned in the next 24 months in to the IT platform and product offering.
Reporting to the Head of Background Checking, as Head of IT Operations, you will be pivotal in supporting our ambitious growth by ensuring our IT delivery plan aligns with product strategy and that all deliveries are successfully managed to market. You will manage our 3rd party IT developers and a team of Analysts, and will work closely with product, sales and operations to ensure that our IT deliveries successfully meet market and business requirements. This role requires a leader who can confidently inspire the team to provide top-quality delivery within agreed timescales and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that annual delivery plans align with the product and sales strategy and that product investments are swiftly and fully deployed into the delivery processResponsible for overall delivery of product and client development to agreed scope, timescales, budget and quality, includingThe creation and maturity of business requirements to Experian and client satisfactionEnsuring resourcing is in place across Experian team and 3rd Party Suppliers to effectively deliver on key milestones, including internal matrix stakeholders across sales, marketing and operationsOverseeing project results, hitting milestones and delivering agreed requirements to agreed budgets, achieving sign off from all stakeholdersManagement and communication of the delivery process, governance, control of project scope and release strategyUnderstanding of product functionality and development roadmap sufficient to be able to plan and manage delivery of product changesArbiter of technical development and business decisions and resolution of issues escalatedManagement of 3rd party IT developer:Managing process for project estimations and scheduling, challenging approach and costs appropriatelyAbility to challenge solution, requiring understanding of technology and agile delivery within a Software Development LifecycleManaging project results and change request process, ensuring they are hitting milestones, quality and delivering requirements to agreed budgetsResource planning - managing the pipeline of work and appropriate prioritisation of scheduling to meet Experian requirementsSupport formal supplier performance reviews and contractual discussionsAccountable for the sign-off of technical specifications and technical direction of productsOrganise the team of 2 direct reports and matrix resource to optimise the delivery outputBe a considered and pragmatic stakeholder in technology decisions and product strategic direction
Required skills
Essential:
Technically capable and able to write and review business specifications for software productsBackground in or a good understanding of developing distributed systems and web servicesGood understanding of systems management with experience or working knowledge of ITILDemonstrated project management skills on application development projectsExperience of managing complex projects, with multiple stakeholders and priorities within a fast-paced environmentProven track record of managing a 3rd party development supplier or matrixed development teamExperience of managing and developing people and leading teamsExceptional stakeholder management - both senior stakeholders and a complex group
Desirable:
Knowledge of Web technologies (including Java Script and ASP.NET), agile delivery methodologies and the Azure platform, structured and un-structured database technologies (SQL and non-SQL) to be able to contribute to and critique proposals and designsUnderstanding of data, data management and data quality within a compliance-driven, regulated business environmentExperience of working with dev-ops automation for continuous integration and continuous deliveryUnderstanding of the user journey and use-cases across the solution-base, from end users through to back-office support personnelUnderstanding of the measures and KPI's required to drive an effective development and delivery organisation
