Our client currently requires an IT Support Engineer to join their well-established company.

This role is very technically varied and the successful candidate will eventually be full system administrator (after any training required). It is a a brilliant opportunity for an individual looking to take the next step into a more autonomous role, learn new skills and build on their existing ones.

The individual will be highly independent, proactive and keen to improve any inefficiencies, actively looking for ways to improve the network, systems and user experience within the company.

IT Support Engineer Responsibilities
• Provide 1st line support and administration of the company’s ERP system (IBM iSeries, AS400 Aurora 2.4)
• Analyse and quickly resolve all desktop and network related problems
• Maintain and troubleshoot networked printers, phones, and scanning guns
• Setup, maintain and upgrade user workstations/laptops and/or peripheral equipment
• Monitor and control the performance and status of all network resources and devices
• Assist in special projects assigned by the IT Manager
• Resolve Windows Server issues, Active directory and group policy management


The ideal candidate would have knowledge/experience of the following:
• Remote/Desktop Support to end users
• PC/Server/Network Infrastructure Support
• Email server administration
• Windows Server 2008/2012 – installing/configuring/support
• IBM iSeries AS/400
• Group Policy/AD/DNS/DHCP configurations
• Windows 7/8/10 + Office 2007 to Office365
• Backup technologies and AV Software
• Understanding IP Routing, VLAN’s, QoS
• SSL & PPTP VPN’s
• Large scale projects, Telephone system replacements, Email migration, Server virtualization.
• BI software use and development. E.g. Cognos, Qlikview, Microsoft SQL.

Ideal Requirements
• ABB or higher at A Level (or equivalent) including either Maths, Physics or IT
• A passion for computing and new technologies & competent knowledge of general computing
• Be a natural problem solver
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written, with the ability to liaise internally and externally with contractors at all levels
• The ability to work under pressure, think broadly and have an aptitude to learn quickly
