Circle Express is now part of the Rico UK Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of the global logistics giant TVS with over $10 billion in annual revenue.
Circle Express was established over 30 years ago as a specialist air cargo distributor, and are now a diverse logistics company providing services to all sectors of business, industry and of course freight forwarders. We are the only UK operator fully licensed to transport all classes of hazardous materials including firearms and ammunition, radio-active, toxic, flammable, corrosive and explosive material.
We are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner working out of our busy Birmingham operation. Reporting to the Depot Manager working 5:00 am until 15:00 pm applicants will be required to work overtime and in line with the nature of our business, have a flexible approach to start and finish times.
With responsibility for planning, organising and co-ordinating the daily routes for a fleet of independent service providers (ISPs), employed drivers and agency drivers operating vans and trucks for the safe, efficient and economic movement of freight through the Circle distribution network.
Main Duties and Responsibilities will include:
• Planning optimum utilization and routing for all vehicles based at our Birmingham depot, ensuring all freight is delivered and collected on time. The ability to manually route 15 vehicles in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
• Prioritizing and amending routes for drivers as and when required.
• Liaising with other Circle Express depots and customers whilst reporting any operational issues.
• Dealing with telephone enquiries from customers, drivers and colleagues in a timely and professional manner.
• Processing customer collections and deliveries on our internal computerized system.
• Compliance with all ‘O’ license requirements (i.e. driver’s working hours).
• Ensuring all staff adhere to the appropriate health and safety procedures.
• Reviewing and improving current procedures and working towards “Best Practice”.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
• The ability to set clear operational objectives in order to ensure a high quality of service to the customer.
• Be able to establish effective working relationships with drivers and supporting stakeholder teams throughout the business.
• Be able to provide accurate and timely management information to support the activities of the local depot and wider business.
Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience and will require clearance at level 4 aviation security level. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as competent Microsoft office skills.
Salary: £23,000 per Annum
