Childcare Coordinator / Manager

Permanent post, salary £25,000 per annum, 37 hours per week, 20 days holiday per year plus bank holidays. Enrolment in company pension scheme.

Gamesley Early Excellence Centre Community Interest Childcare Company has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manager to lead our childcare team as Childcare Coordinator. Our Centre is in Gamesley near Glossop, Derbyshire. It is a professional and busy environment encompassing childcare for children birth to 11 years and a maintained nursery school for 3 and 4 year olds.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the all year round management, staffing, organisation and provision of flexible and high quality childcare in the centre for children from birth to 11 years (full day care and out of school club provision). The coordinator will play an integral part in developing and progressing the aims and purpose of the Community Interest Company by working with the local community to provide additional services for families through community development. The successful candidate will also be Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Centre and take responsibility for safeguarding and child protection for children accessing childcare during school holidays. The coordinator will work alongside and be responsible to the Head of Centre.

The centre closes for 1 week over the Christmas period and the 4 days following the August Bank Holiday. The childcare coordinator will be expected to work and to assume management responsibilities during school holidays. Therefore all other holidays must be taken during school term time.

The Company Directors are looking to appoint a highly motivated and outstanding early years practitioner with:

  • at least 2 years experience of managing, motivating and appraising / supervising staff in an early years setting
  • a minimum of level 4 (or equivalent) in a childcare and education or early years qualification
  • experience of modelling high quality practice and in coaching / mentoring staff to further develop practice and provision
  • an ability to work effectively with parents, the community and a range of professionals 
  • a track record of involvement in Ofsted inspections
  • an ability to implement systems for monitoring and managing information and to analyse child assessment data.
