Job description
To work as a Senior GIPS Performance Analyst within the Performance Measurement and GIPS team of Legal and General Investment Management’s Risk & Performance department.
Legal & General requires an experienced, fully-competent GIPS performance professional that is able to take charge of the GIPS function and supervise a team of GIPS Analysts. The successful candidate will also lead the migration of all LGIM’s composite data to a new platform, working alongside a dedicated project team and external consultants. The role requires the candidate to interact with the front office and therefore he/she must be confident, articulate with strong technical knowledge.
Key responsibilities
The key responsibilities involve the following:
- supervising a team of GIPS analysts, ensuring appropriate procedures and controls are adhered to and deliverables are completed within agreed SLAs;
- being a SME for both LGIM and LGIMA’s (LGIM America) GIPS processes, as well as the main point of contact for any queries or issues relating to marketing materials or RFPs;
- leading the firm’s annual GIPS verifications and managing the relationship with our external verifiers;
- being the business lead for the migration of all LGIM and LGIMA’s composite data to a new platform;
- designing and implementing new operational processes around our new GIPS platform;
- supporting the wider performance team by calculating performance and attribution using both the B-One performance system and manual spreadsheets. Also completing ad hoc queries within agreed SLAs;
- continually seeking to understand and satisfy our clients’ requirements. Developing procedures, processes and systems to support these requirements;
- assisting with any new developments/projects to improve efficiency/productivity and raise the profile of the Performance team;
- maintaining threshold competency status in line with regulatory guidelines as required. Carrying out responsibilities, through completion of training and keeping update to date with market changes;
- enhancing current reporting process by using advanced Excel and modifying macros;
- training, mentoring and supervising the Performance Analysts as required; and
- carrying out any other task as deemed necessary by your Line Manager.
Essential Qualifications
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- educated to a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree level in a Finance or related subject; and
- minimum of CFA Level II qualification (or similar Investment qualification with equivalent GIPS content).
Essential Skills & Experience
The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:
- demonstrate sufficient experience in a Senior Performance Analyst role;
- demonstrate experience of supervising a team of GIPS analysts;
- experience of leading a GIPS verification;
- in-depth working knowledge of monthly GIPS processes;
- in-depth working knowledge investment performance reporting services;
- experience of being the business lead for various investment ierformance process improvement projects;
- experience of multi- asset, equity (index and active), and fixed income performance analysis;
- experience of equity attribution;
- knowledge of calculations and usage of return based statistics;
- experience of composite fund and benchmark calculations;
- enthusiastic and proactive approach;
- excellent verbal communication skills and an ability and confidence to liaise with senior management;
- organised and structured approach;
- excellent problem solving skills;
- able to manage own workload and deal with tight deadlines;
- highly numerate with good attention to detail;
- experience of B-One performance system;
- experience of Statpro performance system; and
- team player.
Additional/desirable skills and experience
It would be desirable for the successful candidate to possess the following experience:
- Demonstrate experience of StatPro Composites.
