Junior Software Developer (Graduate Role) THTJ51084

An opportunity has arisen for a University Graduate on a 12-month fixed term contract as a .Net Developer to help deliver a number of internal and external facing products.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a small software development team and will support the Lead Software Developer and Software Developers in developing front end, business logic, integration and data layers.

They will help develop through the full software development lifecycle from requirements elicitation, solution design, development, integration, testing, deployment and documentation. Projects will be run using Agile principals and they will be expected to work on an Agile team and be comfortable working as a self-starter as part of a new and evolving service.

Technical Skills:

Some knowledge of programming and software development is expected, however they will be expected to learn on the job from colleagues, using online resources and under their own initiative.

It would also be advantageous to have knowledge of and used the following technologies:

C#, MVC, ASP.NET, T-SQL, HTML, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript.

Wider Skills:

They are looking for someone who has a thirst to learn and picks up new technologies quickly. Successful candidates will be expected to work with key stakeholders (with support) to develop fit for purpose business/system requirements. The candidate will be able to create internal applications and online services from scratch that are robust, secure and perform well.  

Personal Skills:

This role requires a candidate who is a self-starter with problem solving skills. An ability to communicate both verbally and in writing is also important. They will need to have a “can-do” approach and some background in/understanding of software development, while some understanding of current technologies and industry best practice will be advantageous.
