We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.</div><div>We are a Supported Employment Service based in York, supporting people toward and to sustain employment. We work closely with the job seeker/employee as well as their families/carers all the while supporting the employer during this process.</div><div><br></div><div><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Who We Are Looking For</span></strong></div><div>We are looking to recruit a Job Coach at York supported employment service which supports individuals into employment across several locations. As a Job Coach you will be required to support people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs into paid employment and/or voluntary positions and work experience.</div><div>You will be flexible and creative in supporting individuals to access employment and be able to identify and overcome barriers to employment that the people we support, with additional needs face.</div><div>It is desirable but not essential that the applicant has a full driver’s license and access to a car which allows flexibility.</div><div><br></div><div><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">What We Need From You</span></strong></div><div>To be a great Job Coach, you don’t necessarily need to come from a social care background but if you have a keen interest in making a difference and engaging with people and you are patient, empathetic and a good communicator then we would like to hear from you. You will also need good IT and self-management skills and a flexible approach. You will also have the ability to market individuals or services, have an understanding of the supported employment process and basic knowledge of social enterprises.</div><div>The core role of a Job Coach is to provide person centred support to the individual to enable them to gain, learn from, develop in and maintain their job, whilst making positive progression toward greater independence within other aspects of their life.</div><div>The Job Coach is also required to supply tailored support to the employer and employees when training the individual to independence within the job. This may involve finding reasonable adjustments, job carving, and supplying specialised training techniques, all the while maintaining a positive working relationship with the employer.</div><div>The Job Coach is to supply Systematic Instruction, which enables them to provide the skills and values essential to plan and prepare people into paid employment as well as facilitate successful learning and independence in the workplace. Formal Training in Systematic Instruction will be provided.</div><div>There are many stages and roles which the Job Coach is required to carry out. These consist of;</div><div><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Pre-Employment:</span></strong></div><div>Sourcing potential employers, through identifying possible opportunities and building trust and relationships with employers</div><div>Liaising between families, carers and the individual throughout the entire process.</div><div>Vocational profiling and assessment of the individuals needs and skills.</div><div>Supporting the individual to improve; interview technique, development of CV’s and applications and self-presentation.</div><div>Job analysis</div><div>Travel Training</div><div><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Employee Support:</span></strong></div><div>Attending inductions and Training required for the job.</div><div>Mentoring and confidence-building.</div><div>Learning the job role and preparing the correct training for the individual.</div><div>Breaking down tasks and applying Systematic Instruction techniques.</div><div>Modelling workplace behaviours.</div><div>Target-setting and reviewing progress.</div><div>Encouraging self-assessment and reflection.</div><div>Regular observations.</div><div>Discovering increases in responsibilities or new activities.</div><div>Supporting the individual if mistakes happen.</div><div><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Employer Support:</span></strong></div><div>Explaining the individuals strengths and work-related support needs.</div><div>Advising the employer on reasonable adjustments.</div><div>Sharing successful strategies and training techniques, applied from Systematic Instruction.</div><div>Being the first point of call if issues and problems occur and discovering solutions.</div><div>Providing information regarding conditions and support needs.</div><div>Offering advice when supporting and including the person at work.</div><div>Suggesting appropriate ways to explain tasks and develop supportive resources to be used by the wider workforce.</div><div>Ensuring the person is on task and meeting employers requirements and standards.</div><div><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Other Roles:</span></strong></div><div>Reporting on progress to families, carers, employer, and the person.</div><div>Providing a link between classroom based learning to workplace learning.</div><div>Identifying relevant further learning opportunities.</div><div>Apply creativity within the role and the workplace.</div><div>Maintain a positive outlook for all involved.</div><div><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">In Addition</span></strong></div><div>We offer both formal and on the job training, and our national specialists are on hand to provide expert advice and support in best practice, inclusion, quality and health and safety, providing exceptional support and making a difference to people’s lives.
