Role Profile;

Our client, a leading modular building manufacturer and installer are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Thurrock.

You will have experience of working in a construction related environment and will have had a previous role as a Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor's a key role and would report to the Bid Manager and work closely with the Operational and Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities:

- Cost control, planning, forecasting and estimating
- Valuations and Applications for payment
- Feasibility studies
- Cost benefit analysis
- Writing reports and preparing documents (plans, contracts, budgets etc.)
- Risk analysis evaluations
- Dispute resolution and cost justification
- Managing project funding sources and submitting bids

You should have at least 2 years recent experience of working in a Quantity Surveyor role. You will have experience within a commercial fit out, general building, civil engineering or shopfitting environment. A working knowledge of building regulations would be advantageous.

Qualifications required;

Degree or professional accreditation from the Royal Institute for the Chartered Surveyors.A HNC, HND or degree in a relevant subject including construction and or quantity surveying.

Relevant GCSE's, A Levels or equivalent. Advantageous - A Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification/ Microsoft Excel course certification

Duties will include;.

Understanding what the client wants. Understanding the company product & services. Understanding scope of works. Assisting in the sharing of key information between departments. Adhering to established company protocols and procedures. Researching materials, equipment, plant and labour costs. Collecting quotes from materials suppliers and sub-contractors. Assisting with the planning of job timescales by understanding supplier lead-times. Assisting in assessing the levels of risk on a project. Analysing supplier data. Understand exchange rates and market prices. Inputting and outputting data into established MS Excel estimating spreadsheets. Assist in preparing and submitting quotations. Helping with bids for new contracts. Assist in the handover of estimating information on successful project bids to the operations department. Supporting buying activities. Assist in monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with forecasts
