About Us:

We are industry leading providers of Cloud Hosting, Colocation and Managed Hosting services to over 3000 happy customers across the UK.

The Technical Support Engineer Role:

Responsible for 1st line technical support and standard change requests to external customers and internal employees, with particular focus on Windows, Linux, CentOS and Red Hat administration.

+ This role involves Monday to Sunday shift work, out of hours and on call duties.
+ This role may require occasional customer and company site visits.

Technical Support Engineer Engineer Required Skills & Experience

Essential:

+ Minimum HND/BTEC or equivalent in IT, Computer Science or similar discipline / proven equivalent working experience.
+ Minimum GCSE level, or equivalent, in English.
+ Experience in relevant IT discipline.
+ Experience with dealing with customer service.
+ An enthusiastic, driven, committed and flexible approach to work.
+ Solutions driven, confident and friendly approach in dealing with customers.
+ Excellent standard of written and spoken English
+ A good memory of how software and operating systems work.
+ Good problem solving skills.
+ Keen interest in, and passionate about IT.
+ Good understanding of IT systems.
+ Basic understanding of servers preferably in Linux and Cisco, and how they operate.

Desirable:

+ ITIL Foundation qualification.
+ Technical phone support experience or previous experience of working within a technical support team environment.
+ Virtual hosting experience, either with a provider or as a customer.
+ Understanding of network devices and service components.
