Head of Finance (UK Maternity Cover)

The Head of Finance will cover for the current Head of Finance who will be taking maternity leave from November 2017.

This is an opportunity to take a senior role within an entrepreneurial, fast growing e-commerce business, which currently operates within Europe and the US. The business trades primarily in high-end photographic equipment, buying and selling directly to consumers through their online platform.

The Head of Finance will report to and work closely with the CSO to ensure the provision of accurate financial management information to the Board and senior management team. They will oversee all the financial controls of the company and will have day to day operational control of the Finance team, currently comprising of one bookkeeper and one office administrator.

They will provide the lead in the production of financial management accounts, developing and improving financial systems and controls, and will work alongside the company accountants to deliver year end accounts to deadline.

This role is suited to a candidate with management accounting experience looking to take on a more senior position within a small but ambitious team.

Principal Responsibilities

• Prepare the monthly consolidated management accounts
• Work alongside the bookkeeper to maintain all financial records through the Xero accounting package
• Ensure accounts and reporting are in line with required accounting standards
• Check and prepare quarterly VAT return, including reconciliation of used sales and returns
• Work with the company accountants to finalise audited YE accounts to deadline
• Finalise and sign off monthly financial KPI reports
• Ensure monthly budgets are communicated and controlled
• Monitor and forecast cash flows
• Preparation of financial reporting for the Board

Skills & Experience

• Management Accounting background
• Experience using Xero Accounting Package
• Strong IT/Systems & Excel knowledge

• Methodical and organised mindset
• Hands on attitude & ability to get on with tasks with minimal supervision
• Experience working in a supervisory role and as part of a team
• Multinational experience preferred but not essential

Terms and conditions

This is a full time temporary position to cover a maternity leave of initially 1 year from November 2017. The candidate will be subject to a probationary period of 3 months.

The Head of Finance will normally work 37.5 hours a week from 9:00 - 5:30pm but will be expected to work at other times as the job requires.

Salary: GBP32,000 - GBP36,000 based on experience.
