Lakeside School, Liverpool

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll have a key role to play in the development of our pupils. We cater for pupils with special educational needs, which means they need more help than most. You’ll work with individuals, groups and classes, helping children learn and develop. Working to boost their self-esteem and encourage acceptance from others, you’ll also support the teacher by monitoring pupils’ work. If your skills are well developed, you could take on more duties, such as helping with planning meetings, working without supervision and liaising with teachers to devise complementary learning activities.

You’ll have up-to-date knowledge of welfare and safety practice within education. You’ll also have the ability to work to specific goals with children, and a gift for building relationships with staff and pupils alike. Emotionally resilient and able to motivate pupils, you’ll enjoy being part of a team but work well independently too. Please note that you may be expected to attend meetings outside normal school hours.

Lakeside School is part of the Witherslack Group, a well-established, independent group of residential/day special schools and children’s homes.  Lakeside School is a co-educational day school that caters for children between the ages of 5 and 13 who exhibit complex communication and learning difficulties with associated challenging behaviours.

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. Through our aspirational homes, schools and ethos, we’ve achieved the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re creating life opportunities where none existed before.

Reward
We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary, contributory pension (matched up to 5%), comprehensive induction and ongoing training, full school holidays (including bank holidays), Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Kia preferential Affinity Scheme, Merlin Entertainment discounts, Cycle to Work and tax-free childcare vouchers.
