Regeneration Officer

Oldham is a diverse borough and one of the ten Greater Manchester Authorities, where regeneration and Place Making is a key element of our plan to make Oldham a better place to live work and play. We are mid-way through a £168m capital regeneration programme, which includes the redevelopment of Princes Gate, a mixed-use retail and residential development and the Cultural Quarter, a state-of-the-art development that will bring together theatre, arts, heritage and library services. We have ambitious private sector partnerships delivering housing, and commercial developments.

We now require a talented Regeneration Officer to join a highly professional dynamic team to assist in the delivery of a range of regeneration projects.

Key responsibilities

  1. To assist in the management of larger regeneration projects, to manage smaller scale regeneration projects and assist others to prepare robust and well thought out business cases for regeneration projects.
  2. To provide information for bids and programmes and to liaise with Elected Members and members of the public as well as colleagues from other key teams.
  3. To ensure that internal financial systems are kept up to date for identified regeneration projects and to work with Finance colleagues to ensure that financial forecasting is accurate.
  4. To ensure that internal project management systems are kept up to date and implement project management procedures in accordance with Oldham Borough Councils Project Management Methodology Handbook and associated documentation.
  5. To prepare reports for Council meetings; briefing papers for elected members and any other monitoring reports as required and ensure that all documentation is prepared for Project Board meetings and to ensure that decisions are accurately recorded.

Key Requirements
To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  1. Educated to Degree level or equivalent and with the skills and qualifications to be eligible for membership of a professional body involved in the Regeneration process.
  2. Experience in the provision of support services within a professional office environment and experience of cost/budget monitoring.
  3. Knowledge/experience of computerised information systems such as databases Spreadsheets, and word processing packages and experience in the preparation of presentation documents, both on paper and utilising multimedia.
