Job Title: Learning Support Assistant with Science focus (Part-Time)
Location: Haywards Heath
Salary: £11,976 (FTE £14,517)
Job Type: Part-Time Position, term times - 33 hours per week

Our client are a Christian IAPS co-ed day and weekly boarding school for children aged 2½ -13 years situated in 300 acres of woodland, with excellent facilities and a caring family atmosphere. The Learning Development Department is an integral part of the school community. The department enjoys a close and caring relationship with parents, children and colleagues. Staff members in both the wider school community and the department are positively committed to sharing their talents and working together to help each child realise his/her potential. The department is led by the Director of Learning Development, who is responsible for the day-today running of the department, for co-ordinating resources and managing staff.
Job Role
Main Purpose of Role
- To support pupils' learning in science
- To support Science teacher in preparation and set up of science lessons
- To communicate positively with parents and colleagues on pupil's needs and strengths.
- To be a proactive and committed member of the Learning Development Department and wider school community.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Assist in the educational development of pupils in science lessons; under the direction and guidance of the Head Teacher, Director of Learning Development and class teachers.
- Assist in the preparation, set-up and delivery of KS3 science lessons and support provision for pupils' classroom enabling full participate in activities
- Be familiar with the individual learning strengths and needs of pupils in the lessons
- Support class teacher and Director of Learning Development with maintaining pupil records
Standards and quality assurance
- Support the aims and Christian ethos of the school
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
- Attend team and staff meetings
- Be proactive in matters relating to safeguarding and health and safety
Administrative duties
- Support teachers in lesson preparation, planning and review to facilitate differentiation for learning and teaching
- Undertake other duties from time to time as required
The Candidate
The successful applicant will:
- Assist in the preparation, set-up and delivery of KS3 science lessons and support provision for pupils' classroom enabling full participate in activities.
- Be positive and passionate in supporting an inclusive culture
- Be experienced in working with this age group.
