Jubilee House has an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker to join the team based in Welwyn Garden City. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of up to £9.00 per hour.

At Jubilee House we support people with learning disabilities and their families to ensure that individuals live happy and fulfilled lives.  We are committed to being there at a time when individuals need it the most and by empowering them to live their lives their way.

We are currently supporting over 100 people each year through a wide range of support services.  We provide individually tailored support and care through a wide range of services around Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

You will need to be compassionate, pro-active, confident and professional.  As a Support Worker you will be responsible for the outcome of how our service users want to lead their daily lives, demonstrating the ability to build relationships and be comfortable in providing all aspects of high quality, person centred support and personal care.  We look for people that take responsibility for their role and have integrity in what they do.

Your responsibilities as a Support Worker:

- To support individuals in developing their independence, ensuring that all people using and working in the services are treated with respect and dignity.

- To work with individuals using our services on either a group or one to one basis.

- To work in a team environment or occasionally lone working.

- To provide physical, practical and emotional support to individuals in line with their needs and wishes.

- To support individuals using services to maintain existing and develop new relationships.

- To involve and include service users and their families in decisions relating to planning the service.

- To support individuals be involved with community life, through social and leisure activities, work opportunities, volunteering, etc.

- To develop positive, professional relationships with families, colleagues, managers and external agencies to enable high quality, effective and joined up services.

About you, your qualifications, previous experience and skills required to become our Support Worker:

- The ability to work inclusively with our service users in order to inform and enable learning opportunities and involving them in the planning of their support and care.

- To be able to record information accurately, both written and numerically.

- To work in a way that always has the highest regard for the individual, abilities and wishes.

- To be able to work a flexible shift; cover a 24-hour day including weekends, and Bank Holidays.

- To have the ability to participate in the assessment of people’s needs and wishes.

- Experience of providing a Person Centred support to individuals with learning disabilities and Autism.

- QCF Level 2 or the commitment to undertake a qualification.

- To understand equal opportunities and respect for diversity.

- Effectively manage your time, communicate clearly and have excellent interpersonal skills.

- To maintain professional boundaries and act as a role model for the people using our services.

- Be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
