What will the role of Materials Controller entail?

Reporting to the Materials Manager and working as part of the wider Materials Management Team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring optimum material availability for Heavy Maintenance projects using relevant tools and utilising the MRP / ERP systems. Duties will include:

  • Placing required material orders in a timely fashion and in line with purchasing procedure
  • Monitoring the daily stock order reports and place required orders daily
  • Tracking material purchases using BOM Trackers and ensuring the trackers are maintained daily
  • Expediting purchases direct with suppliers as required
  • Ensuring purchase order requisitions are provided with correct verification and authorisation
  • Monitoring goods received purchase order (GRPO) service requests
  • Managing key and risk items and liaising with the Project Engineer to ensure risks are flagged
  • Using trend information to adjust min/max levels, ensuring optimum levels of stock
  • Monitoring expected against actual usage, and investigating where there are discrepancies
  • Completing repair/return schedules, notifying stores and suppliers of deliver/collection dates

What will I need to be considered for this Materials Controller vacancy?

  • Proven experience in a supply chain / materials management role, ideally within an engineering environment
  • Experience of purchase order management, including requisitions, purchase orders and delivery process
  • Demonstrable experience in maintaining detailed bill of materials (BOM)
  • Conversant with inventory control techniques, such as min/max, 2 bin and stock scheduling
  • Experience liaising with suppliers and managing performance
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build good, professional relationships
  • Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office (Word and in particular, Excel) and ideally SAP
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

What will I receive in return?

Salary: £28,000
