About us

At Bath Spa University we work with one clear vision: to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. And as the fifth largest employer in Bath and North East Somerset, we are really bringing our local talent out on a global scale. And with ever growing student numbers, it is important for an expansion in our infrastructure and cherished buildings and landscapes. Transforming the lives of our socially engaged global students starts with making sure that our people, people like you, are engaged, empowered and feel valued for the hard work they do.

Our dedicated Library and Learning Services team support teaching, learning and research in collaboration with staff and students. We aim to deliver a seamless experience across the University providing excellent digital and physical resources to our staff and students, whilst providing environments that encourage study, learning and creativity.

About the role

Working as a member of the Collections team within Library & Learning Services, you will play a key role in the acquisition and processing of new library materials at Newton Park and work in collaboration with  colleagues in campus libraries at Sion Hill and Corsham Court. You will be responsible for financial processes such as ordering and invoicing, liaise with external suppliers, and help to manage and maintain digital and physical library stock.  Alongside this you will be working with the wider team to provide high quality front-line library services across our busy Library and Learning Commons spaces. You will be encouraged to take an active role in departmental projects and working groups to help us to provide a responsive and ever improving experience for our users.

About you (requirements)

Together with recent experience of working with the public and delivering high quality customer services, you will have proven ability in administration and clerical work. We will expect you to demonstrate excellent communication skills, practical problem solving, and a flexible approach. The ability to organise records or information, as well as practical computer skills, will be essential in this role.

We are looking for someone with strong team working values and experience, who is organised and committed to their personal professional development. You should be able to work accurately without close supervision. Crucially, you are enthusiastic about delivering excellent customer services and focused on providing the highest level of support to students and staff.

Unfortunately this post is not available for current Bath Spa students but other opportunities to work in the Library are advertised via the University Job Shop.
