Hull Fostering is looking to recruit independent members to their Fostering Panels.
The Hull Fostering Panel meets to assess the suitability of foster carers and support the needs of children who require a foster placement. Specialist training will be given. Panel members will also be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
We are looking to recruit several people to our existing panels:
- An independent member with experience in education services.
- An independent member who is currently or was recently a foster carer for any fostering agency other than Hull Fostering.
- An independent member who has been a Care Leaver themselves.
- An independent member who considers themselves to belong to an ethnic minority.
INDEPENDENT means that you cannot currently be approved as a foster carer for Hull Fostering or work for Hull Fostering. However you can work for Hull City Council as long as your work does not include any function relating to the protection or placement of children.
Hull Fostering would welcome approaches by anyone else who is interested in learning more about the function and purpose of Foster Panel, even if this may not be the right time for you to take up a role with us.
Independent members can receive remuneration for their commitment to attend panel and all expenses including travel costs will be reimbursed. Details of remuneration will be given upon enquiry.
To become a panel member you will need:
- To have personal experience or awareness of fostering;
- To want to contribute to the lives of vulnerable children;
- To have approximately 1 day per month available which will include personal reading time;
- To be confident reading reports and contributing to discussion and decision making.
The Hull Fostering Panel meet monthly although additional Panel's maybe required dependant on demand. Expenses will be paid to all independent Panel members.
