Lead User Experience Architect

Old Mutual Wealth has defined User Experience as a key differentiator for its customer proposition for the future. This role will provide the user experience skills to help the business realise this ambition.

Key Responsibilities

- The lead user experience architect will Embed User Centred Design into the Old Mutual Wealth culture
- Plan and manage the delivery of small, medium and large UX streams within projects working with internal stakeholders and 3rd parties including agencies
- Lead, plan, design and conduct usability testing sessions either in-house or at external locations to support the design and development of our products (including early stage concept, paper and 'in-browser' prototype testing, card sorts and guerrilla research)
- Present findings, recommendations and customer insight to senior decision makers
- Engage and manage 3rd party developments, overseeing the build for adherence to our UX vision, usability design standards acting as key contributor in design sprints
- Analysis and problem solving to resolve design issues in build and test
- Assist with platform launch activities by using your understanding of journeys to review and feed into training, marketing material and business readiness
- The lead user experience architect will Review and sign off requirements
- Design artefacts to ensure consistency and adherence to our UX vision
- Produce sitemaps and structures to support usability and findability
- Produce low fidelity / high fidelity wireframes and prototypes to support testing and development
- Work with designers and developers to turn findings into actionable requirements to inform prototype development and influence product direction
- Support findings and decisions with data from online analytics and other research methods
- Champion adherence to non-functional requirements including browsers standards, page performance and accessibility
- Build a strong view of our users by challenging and improving personas and insight into our customers' needs (direct customers, financial advisers etc.)
- Line manage one User Experience Analyst

Qualifications Required

- Ideally Degree Educated and holder of relevant qualifications

Experience Required

- Solid understanding of the relationship between user interface design and its effect on digital metrics that drive business value
- Hands-on experience with a variety of UX disciplines and techniques
- A proven background in managing UX streams of large projects
- Substantial ability to manage, execute and analyse usability test sessions
- Excellent Information Architecture skills with actionable know-how in the tools and techniques to support this [such as card sorting and tree testing]
- Experience with a variety of tools such as Morae, Axure, Visio, InVision, Optimal Workshop, Loop11, Userzoom, SurveyMonkey etc.
- Excellent written skills to produce compelling reports and presentations, to support and explain findings
- Confidence in communicating in persuasive and comprehensible terms to business stakeholders
- Proven experience of user interface design, responsive design and design processes
- Ability to balance customer needs with business goals when developing solutions
- Understanding of web analytics [ideally with experience of Google Analytics]
- Experience with working with 3rd parties to deliver against Web Accessibility guidelines (WCAG)
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with both waterfall and agile development and how UX integrates into these processes
- Experience of working with large brands is desirable
- Financial Services experience advantageous
