Role: Process Engineer
Description:
Engineering integrity and standards of the associated plant, equipment and service systems.
Management of Contractors taking account of the HSEQ factors with responsibility for facility engineering records and drawings.
Identification and action of maintenance and verification requirements in order to maintain/improve the plant/processes.
Development of preventive measures through continuous improvement processes
Budgetary control of related Capital projects.
Hardware engineering of plant modifications and Capital projects from scope finalisation to handover to operations.
Maximise the capability of the Company's assets through process improvements and production techniques.
Develop preventative action and continuous improvement within the plant processing equipment.
Be an integral part of the Operations department contributing to business improvement through idea generation and project implementation.
Work as part of project implementation teams, providing continuous process evaluation/improvement, energy efficiencies, machine capability analysis and value stream mapping.
Communicate and raise awareness of project status.
Develop function for the future strategic needs of the business.
Document process control requirements.
Principal Responsibilities
Quality, Safety Health & Environment
. Instil a culture of health and safety awareness and continuous improvement
. Compliance with all relevant engineering legislation.
. Relevant engineering authorisations and permits.
. Carry out/participate in Inductions for contractors.
. RAMS and COSHH assessment and compliance for Department.
People
. Complete the Project Management duties for the areas of responsibility.
. Maintenance of technical skill profile to meet site and business needs.
. Departmental communications.
Business
. Managing facility maintenance activities.
. To actively pursue site reliability.
. Implement project work (including appropriate Plant/Site "shutdown" activities).
. Full utilisation of Corporate standards where appropriate and development of own local standards.
. Accurate on time formal reporting as required.
. Day to day responsibility for optimum site process engineering efficiency.
. Collaborate with other functions.
. Set process engineering priorities.
. Accountabilities
. To Head of Operations for the performance of both employees and all contractors working in the Process Engineering area.
. To Head of Operations for process engineering standards, records and drawings.
. To Head of Operations and Department for HSEQ standards.
. To Head of Operations for meeting process engineering budgetary control objectives.
. To Head of Operations for meeting agreed objectives/kpi's.
. To Head of Operations for installation of projects in accordance with Site Procedures
Skills, Qualifications, Competencies and Behaviours
- Qualified in a relevant Engineering degree (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical ,Chemical)
- IT literate.
- The ability to lead, motivate and develop others
- Working knowledge of 5s, TPM, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing techniques, i.e, BPS.
- Team player.
- Positive communicator.
- Able to accept "change" and work flexibly to high standards.
- Work under own initiative and be self motivating.
- Customer focused (internal and external).
Preferred Attributes
- Have proven project management knowledge/skills.
- Held a process engineering position ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Have experience within an abrasive or non-woven environment.
