Founded in 1891, John Wainwright & Company Ltd has a track record of growth and success.  We are a proudly independent quarrying business located in the heart of the Mendips. We extract and process basalt from our quarry, and sell premium construction materials throughout the region. With a new asphalt facility recently opened in Avonmouth, and plans for continued expansion, now is a great time to work for our vibrant company.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for health, safety and environmental requirements across the business.

With safety as our first priority, and a history of success in this sphere, yours is a business-critical role. We are looking for a proven and experienced manager with excellent communication skills.

You’ll need the energy to provide inspirational leadership and make a positive contribution to protecting our people from harm, developing policies and instilling a culture of safety throughout our organisation. And you’ll need to be committed to improving our environmental performance, as we seek to enhance the green credentials of our industry.    

Experienced in managing internal and external audits, you’ll  contribute to the business fulfilling its responsibilities to BSEN18001 and BSEN14001, so familiarity with these standards is essential.

With  a broad knowledge of safety, health and environmental legislation, you’ll be well-qualified, industrious, inventive and highly organised. An understanding of quarrying, manufacturing, construction, engineering or similar is desirable.
