About the role Within this role, you will develop a full understanding and then set strategy for of how the National Grid undertakes energy balancing decisions from day ahead through to real time. You will also develop your influencing skills through discussions with the Electricity Network Control Centre staff, and develop your commercial knowledge. You will determine quantitative analysis and models of National Grids energy balancing requirements, for Reserve and Response Requirements which will feed into operability strategies, and develop these models with an eye to modeling future change, improving operational security and reducing the Balancing Costs associated with meeting energy balancing requirements. About you You will have a degree in an mathematics, engineering, science, economic or other numerate discipline. You will also have:
- Knowledge of the GB BETTA market arrangements
- Understanding of the UK Transmission System
- Proven analytical and mathematical modelling skills
- Good level of expertise in encoding models/analysis in MS ACCESS, Excel and statistical packages
- Proven ability to understand and model real life
- The ability to plan and organise work load is essential
