Assistant Depot Operations Manager
Wellingborough, NN9
12pm – 10pm (plus Saturday mornings when required)
Freightroute is a family owned and a major player in the Express Pallet Distribution sector, processing up to 3500 pallets per night within their own network of ten depots, who are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to support the Depot General Manager in their day to day duties.
The Assistant Depot Operations Manager will support the Depot General Manager in their objectives, so that the company achieves compliance under its requirements on the Goods Vehicle Operators Licence, Health & Safety at Work Acts, EC Drivers Hours & WTD rules and other general legal compliance
Position Summary
As an Assistant Operations Depot Manager, it will be your responsibility to effectively manage and control the daily collection, delivery and trunking requirements of the depot.
Key areas are;
• Collection and delivery vehicle utilisation, ensuring effective communication with customers, drivers and the warehouse function and the management of traffic office administration
• Support in ensuring that all necessary compliance is achieved within the Goods Vehicle Operators licence requirements, adhering to company procedures in key areas such as; vehicle servicing / MoTs, drivers hours regulations and tachograph analysis
• Responsibility for HR requirements within the depot ensuring that optimum staffing levels are maintained throughout peak times and holiday periods
• Ensure that traffic administration procedures are completed and followed daily
• Review delivery, collection and trunk planning regularly throughout the shift with relevant staff
• To manage driver labour costs and overtime as well as external agency usage
• KPI accountability on service levels, delivery and collection utilisation and labour/agency costs
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have the required experience and skills to undertake this role, including;
• CPC Qualification desirable
• Proven record with use of the Manpack system and data entry / analysis is essential
• Flexible approach to your role, willing to go that extra mile if required
• Maintain professionally high standards in both behaviour and appearance both personally and throughout the depot team.
• Additional training and support will be available with regard Management responsibilities and legislation.
