Whether someone is newly diagnosed or has lived their whole life with reduced sight, Vista's specialist staff provide a vital lifeline to local people.

We have a Learning and Development Coordinator opportunity available at our Kathleen Rutland Home situated in Leicester Forest East, Leicester. 

You will be required to work 20 hours per week; to be worked flexibly between 7am - 9.30pm to include weekends and bank holidays to meets the needs of the care home and that of the service users.

The primary objective of this role is to support staff with their learning and development and to deliver effective training.

Main Duties

  • Fulfilling the regulations of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities), the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009 and to meet the Essential Standards of quality and safety.
  • Responsible for Learning and Development practice and competencies.
  • To ensure, all new staff receive a full Induction that meet the Common Induction Standards laid down by the Sector Skills Council.
  • Identify learning and development needs of staff; assess staff in the workplace, support them with their learning needs, provide written reports of assessment to contribute to staff portfolios of evidence.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Homes Learning and Development Plan.
  • Co-ordinate training dates to ensure individuals complete learning as necessary.
  • Ensure individual's learning portfolios are current.
  • To advise senior staff on the learning and development progress of individual staff prior to their Appraisals.
  • Deliver training as required and agreed with Home Manager.
  • Ensure that procedures are followed that includes costings for training budgets and work within guidance from Manager.
  • To actively safeguard adults from abuse, prevent abuse occurring, and report any suspected incidents of abuse, following Vista's Policy and Procedures and local Multi-Agency Policy and Procedures for the Safeguarding of Adults.
