Our client, a successful and well respected financial services organisation, is currently recruiting for a Risk and Compliance Manager to support the Risk and Compliance Executive to ensure that department objectives are met. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the Risk and Compliance department of a Mortgage & Savings provider based in the West Midlands. The successful candidate will be responsible for embedding and monitoring the effectiveness of the Risk & Compliance Management Framework throughout all business areas, and operate within the framework for the identification, monitoring and reporting of financial crime within the business in line with regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for the management of a small support team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Embed the Compliance Framework throughout the business, ensuring that all compliance monitoring and quality assurance reviews are completed on time to enable them to be reported to the relevant committee
  • Promote a positive risk culture with particular attention to the embedding the Risk Management Framework
  • Prepare documents for the Executive Management Committees, Audit & Compliance Committee and the Board Risk Committee to a high standard
  • Assist with the preparation of a compliant Annual General Meeting and other corporate governance requirements
  • Manage the Regulatory Legislation Tracker to ensure that changes to regulations are implemented in a timely manner
  • Oversee complaint handling including MPPI complaints to ensure they are dealt with in line with the regulatory requirements
  • Approve financial promotions, including the website and customer documentation
  • Pro-actively manage and develop the Risk and Compliance team, with particular focus on improving their overall regulatory knowledge, performing regular performance reviews and annual appraisals
  • Develop an open and approachable relationship with all departments to promote a good compliance culture

Skills and experience required:

  • 2+ years working within the Mortgage & Savings sector
  • 2 -3 years' experience working in a compliance and/or risk function (desired)
  • Have an open and approachable manner and the ability to communicate and work alongside all departments promoting a good compliance and risk culture
  • Good written communications with attention to detail
  • Ideally hold a relevant qualification e.g. Compliance Diploma, Institute of Risk Management Certificate or Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP)
