Position: Estimator - CNC
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: A competitive salary is on offer, along with a bonus scheme.
Our client is a subcontract machining company, manufacturing prototypes and low to medium batch production in aluminium, stainless and plastics for various industries including aerospace and medical. Due to expansion, they are looking to appoint an Estimator with an estimating / job costing background. Alternatively askilled CNC Machinist with a good machining background interested in moving into a customer facing estimator role would be considered.
The position:
The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating, pricing and preparing quotations in a timely manner.
* Preparing accurate, detailed quotations.
* Meeting company quotation turn-around targets.
* Providing a supporting role in reverse engineering of components and drafting manufacturing engineering drawings.
* Working with the customer to understand the fit, form and function of component applications to reverse engineer and draft manufacturing engineering drawings.
* Conforming to the Company's ISO 9001:2008 administrative and working procedures
* Assisting in ensuring the company achieves its targets for new customer acquisition, sales and profitability growth.
Candidate Profile:
* Ideally you will have an estimating / job costing background with experience in ERP/MRP computer systems, however a skilled CNC Machinist with a good machining background interested in moving into a customer facing estimator role will also be suitable.
* Practical knowledge of precision machining and tool making, being a time served machinist with an additional minimum of 5 years machining experience.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings to develop manufacturing routings, liaise with suppliers for materials and any subcontract costs and to estimate labour time costs for components involving manual and CNC milling and turning.
* A bias toward CNC turning would be advantageous.
* An enquiring mind and interest in developing a supporting role in reverse engineering of
components and drafting manufacturing engineering drawings.
* Personable with good people skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customers
* Analytical thinking with problem solving skills
* Self-starter and a team player with drive.
* A good understanding and proven experience of standard MS Office.
