My client with manufacturing locations both abroad and in th UK employ a broad range of skill including engineering and process, manufacturing, product management, supply chain and customer services, quality assurance, continuous improvement, compliance and finance.

Due to phenominal growth and a healthy order book my client is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer, for there facility in Somerset.

Description
•Key focus of this role will be to coordinate structured root cause analysis in relation to problem solving; customer, supplier and assisting with internally generated issues. Additionally, internal auditing both from a business process and manufacturing compliance perspective will be a major activity. This will primarily support the transition to AS9100 Rev D, but as my client is currently remodeling there business systems to ensure they are robust, it will also ensure a smoother transition of a more proactive deployment of quality from one of Quality Control to one of Quality Assurance.
•High standards of customer engagement will be an essential part of maintaining existing and securing new market/business opportunities, along with supporting group standardisation initiatives aimed at underpinning future scalability.
•Although the role will be reporting to the local Quality Manager, the individual will be expected to operate at a level that regularly interacts with senior management and occasionally having to cover for the Quality Manager.

Job Responsibilities
•Underpin the achievement of AS9100, ensuring standards are compliant, maintained and meet with business needs in support of a more robust infrastructure.
•Play an active role coordinating multi-functional projects for business system continuous improvements in conjunction with the Sharing in Growth programme over the next 4 years.
•Performing internal audits to proactively determine quality risks within our processes and work with appropriate management/staff to ensure satisfactory mitigation.
•Provide mentoring, coaching and suggest corrective actions as necessary
•Develop strategic plans in which business goals and objectives are met.
•Deploy strategic initiatives defined in planning process and oversees the execution of activities to achieve goals.
•Provide a mature customer facing lead role in ensuring effective issues management from initiation to closure of customer returns.
•Work closely with all functional areas to identify supply related issues and work closely with Purchasing in closing the route cause with the supplier.
•Provide analysis and regular tracking of issues related to material non-conformance.
•Utilising standard problem techniques/tools to address route causes and chairing MRB meetings.
•Assisting with supplier audits for approval of new and management of existing.
•Supporting the contract review activities.
•Coordinating the concessions/permits along with analysis and progression of changes to further reduce.
•Supporting customer and 3rd party audits.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

SPECIALIST FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE
•Confident in generating / remodelling / facilitating business processes.
•Performing audits that include; supplier audits, process compliance audits through to verifying the effectiveness of the Business processes.
•Detailed understanding of root cause analysis tools and engaging with Engineering staff to identify and verify preventive action.
•Mature Customer focused approach handling issues with urgency.
•Proven track record with deployment of Continuous Improvement projects using a structured problem solving methodology.
•Working level demonstration of Lean Six Sigma is essential and awareness of the SC21 or SiG initiatives would be beneficial.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
•Self-driven with the ability to set own priorities and work independently.
•Attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
•Strong influencing, communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Degree level engineering qualification preferred but not essential.
•Internal or Lead auditor to AS9100 or ISO13485.

EXPERIENCE
•3 to 5 years industry experience of working within an AS9100 or ISO13485 environment.
•Previous experience within a quality engineering role, ideally within an optical technical development/manufacturing environment.
•Involvement in MRB's (Material Review Meetings) for handling all non-conforming materials, from incoming to outgoing.
•Experience in implementing process improvements using structured problem solving methodologies.
•Experienced in the use of Microsoft office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint essential
