Product Development Engineer

GTS Flexible Materials Ltd is a manufacturer of flexible composites and adhesive-coated tapes used in a wide range of industrial applications, including the automotive, aerospace and energy markets. 90% of products are exported, to Europe, Asia and the USA.

GTS has a requirement for a person to assist with product development from initial material concept, feasibility and testing, through to customer trials, starting in July.

The candidate should have excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a small team. 

Higher-education qualifications in a science-based subject e.g. Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science are required.

The use of polymeric materials or experience in a converting environment will be an advantage, though not necessary as training on GTS materials and processes will be given.

Job description

Product concept feasibility studies, including material availability and costs, preparation of coatings and product samples for internal and external testing.

Testing of new raw materials and final products to expand GTS product offerings.

Design, running and reporting of laboratory tests and production trials, including to sales staff and direct to customers.

Documentation trails for design projects.

Hours

Full-time, 40 hours per week. 

Salary will be c. £22,000 depending on qualifications and experience
