A fantastic opportunity has become available with a leading Aerospace/Defence company for a Structural Analysis Engineer. To conduct engineering analyses in support of product service and airworthiness certification data.

Responsibilities:

It is expected that the position will require the following duties and responsibilities:

+ Preparation of product engineering analysis including structural and pneumatic systems

+ Preparation of airworthiness and safety management certification

+ Ensure Product/System Safety system is managed and maintained

+ Assist in the definition and development of engineering materials and processes best practice

+ Develop new predictive engineering models in support of new product development

+ Develop structural engineering specifications involving metals and non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design

+ Develops specifications for operation of product to include structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating equipment and maintenance designs

+ Damage tolerance, durability, design allowable and structural modelling

+ Specific structural engineering

+ Specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, thermal analysis and Gas System dynamics

+ Tools utilized may include Microsoft Excel, Solidworks, ANSYS, Matlab/Python

Qualifications:

+ Minimum of an engineering related degree ( or equivalent qualifications/experience )

+ Candidate would ideally hold professional membership of an engineering institution

+ Demonstrable experience in utilising the following processes would be advantageous:

+ Experience with 3D CAD modelling with software such as SolidWorks/SolidEdge

+ Performing engineering hand calculations

+ 3D Finite Element Modelling using tools such as ANSYS/NASTRAN/ABAQUS

+ Linear and Non-linear Analysis of Metallic and Non-Metallic Structures

+ Fatigue Life Prediction of Structures

+ Vibration Analysis - Harmonic and Random Vibration

+ Knowledge of programming language such as Matlab or Python

+ Knowledge of thermodynamics/fluid dynamics principles and simulations using CFD tools such as ANSYS FLUENT/CFX

Skills:

It would be expected that the candidate would already have a proven track record of applying some or all of the following skills/knowledge:

+ Identify concepts/technologies for new product developments

+ Understanding materials technologies in engineering analysis

+ Understanding of industry leading engineering analysis tools

+ Ability to analyse designs for obsolescence.

+ Test Specification writing and implementation, when necessary.

+ Product test implementation and/or supervision.

+ Ability to prepare Flight Certification documentation in support of specifications.

Experience:

Ideally experienced in aerospace/defence engineering with relevant knowledge of defence/aerospace business and market areas
