C/C++ Software Engineer/Developer (Maths/Physics Graduates Considered)

A rare opportunity for a C/C++ Software Engineer to develop leading-edge 3D CAD software, providing innovative solutions to customers worldwide, on some of the most forward-thinking areas of 3D engineering. This is the perfect transition if you are finishing a highly mathematical degree/Ph.D. or currently work as a Software Engineer and would like join a company that are very academically-minded promoting research that is pushing the boundaries within their technical space.

Location: Cambridge

Salary: Entirely dependent on experience but you can expect to earn - GBP28k-GBP30k Graduates/GBP38k-GBP40k for 3 years' experience

Requirements for those straight from academia:

  • 2.1 or 1st class honours degree in Mathematics or Physics - if you have a masters or Ph.D. even better
  • High grades in geometry, numerical methods, vectors or 3D modelling related modules
  • You should have achieved a Grade A in A-level Maths
  • Programming experience in at least one mainstream programming language C/C++, C#, Java, Python etc
  • Looking for a highly challenging, mathematical problem solving position, within Software Engineering

Requirements for those with commercial experience:

  • Degree educated in Mathematic, Physics, Engineering or similar with high mathematical content
  • Commercial experience writing C/C++ code on Windows and Linux OS
  • An interest in exploring a role with a high geometric modelling content
  • Any experience in developing applications for manipulating 3D Geometry is highly beneficial

3D CAD C/C++ Software Engineer/Developer Responsibilities:

  • Designing geometric algorithms to solve incredibly challenging 3D geometry problems.
  • Coming up with solutions to solve problems within many cutting-edge fields, including Medial Axis Transform, spatial partitioning, 3D printing, 3d scan data processing and shrink wrapping
  • Work on research projects and closely with academic institutions to push the frontiers of 3D digital modelling and analysis
  • Liaise with clients and end-users within industry regarding CAD/CAM/CAE concepts and advancements.
