Managing Surveyor / MQS - Main Contractor - General Works
Salary GBP70-80K + Car/Car Allowance + Private Healthcare + Pension + Bonus

My client is a regional main contractor with a substantial turnover and a great track record of success. They are now looking for a Managing Surveyor to manage a team of surveyors in General Works. This team of 7 QS's covers projects up to GBP4m in value. My client intends to grow the turnover from GBP17-30m over the next few years, in addition the team will grow to 10-12 QS's to manage the work.
They operate in all sectors including education, healthcare, residential, retail and office securing a wide range of repeat business and new work. Their portfolio includes a wide range of new build and refurbishment projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with refurbishment and/or new build experience seeking career progression to take complete responsibility for a team of staff and live projects, developing the team, promoting best practice and delivering profitable outcomes.
Essential
- Sound commercial acumen, you will be a Senior Quantity Surveyor with at least 5 years management experience
- Must have energy, drive and enthusiasm
- Able to cope with accounting/reporting procedures and practices
- Assess, review and mitigate commercial risks
- Support the authorisation and submission of project variations
- Maximise cash flows and profitability
- Authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders
- Provide sound commercial judgement, manage client liaison, negotiations, tender review, CVR's, valuations, monthly reporting, cash flow, final accounts, risk management, bills of quantities, contractual negotiations and variations
- Confident about your ability with the capacity to add value
- Able to secure repeat business from satisfied clients
- Live locally within Kent or the neighbouring counties
- Relevant qualifications
- Be used to dealing with relevant business/accounting procedures
- Reports into the Commercial Manager.
