Temporary Head of Centre

Swansea Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is seeking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic professionals with a proven record of successful leadership at middle or senior level.

Candidates will have a record of raising the achievement of pupils with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD).

The Head of Centre is responsible to the Head of Swansea PRU and PRU Management Committee for promoting the inclusion of pupils on the caseload of the Centre into their mainstream school and/or local community and working to the broad objectives of the Behaviour Support Unit.

This Centre has 28 places for children and young people in Foundation phase and Key Stage 2 as well as 28 places for Key Stage 3 pupils. The Centre primarily offers re-integration placements with an expectation that pupils spend part of the week back in their mainstream school. This essential feature ensures that children and young people maintain links with their teachers, friends and curriculum.

Schools requesting a place for a pupil in the Centre will have usually followed the graduated response through school action plus, and made use of support from a Behaviour Support Teacher and/or had an assessment by an Educational Psychologist.

This post is available as a one or two-year secondment.
