Job Description LOCATION: Garstang, Lancashire

JOB TITLE: Facilities Manager

SALARY & BENEFITS: From GBP35,000 per annum

WORKING HOURS: Full time - Monday to Friday

THE COMPANY: The Smartlist are recruiting on behalf of a client who are a family-run business, based near Garstang who are looking to appoint an experienced Facilities Manager to run a new and exciting development for the business.

With a strong reputation for delivering innovative products to the agricultural industry over the last twenty years, their products are based on natural and waste-reduction principles in contrast to chemical approaches often seen in agriculture. They see themselves 'on the side' of farmers and the land/animals they serve.

They about to enter a new chapter that will see them set up and operate their own paper drying facility for the first time with the purpose of manufacturing a paper-based animal bedding product.

In line with their principles, this will be a sustainable operation involving a 1.2MW biomass boiler linked to a state-of-the-art belt dryer and will be sited in farmland in the Forest of Bowland.

THE ROLE: Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Facilities Manager will be fully accountable for the operational management of the new production site, which will include 'business as usual' and research and development approaches.

General accountabilities will involve storage of completed goods, preparation and packaging of goods and the management and maintenance of all production equipment and plant. The Facilities Manager will initially be involved with the site set-up including recruitment, health & safety systems and standard operating procedures.

There will be significant scope for substantial achievement, contribution, role growth and recognition functionally, together with opportunities for ongoing personal development and career progression as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities of a Facilities Manager based in Garstang to include:-

• You will be fully accountable for running an efficient operation producing high quality products.
• You will be responsible for setting up effective systems and processes to enable optimum running of the facility.
• You will create and deliver on a long term plan for the operational management of the facility, including resource plans, budgeting, stock holding, distribution and logistics.
• You will provide leadership and motivation to all designated employees effectively to ensure the smooth running of the site.

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will be locally situated to Garstang and the surrounding areas. You will have at least 5 years previous experience in a Facilities role or similar from either engineering or agricultural industries. You will ideally have previous experience of managing a 24/7 operation. People management will be a strength of yours and the effective performance of yourself and others will be second nature to you. You will relish a role where you can make a noticeable contribution to the achievement of the company's improvement and business growth objectives and plans.

You will be a practical-minded individual with a strong degree of organisation skills, coupled with high standards for systems and processes in both production and test environments.
