The Pre H.E Careers Team provide specialist impartial careers information, advice and guidance to prospective and potential higher education students through interactive workshops and one to one guidance (by email, phone and face to face).

Working with students in schools and colleges in the region, the role of the Pre HE Careers Adviser is to engage students to consider their options and research their choices to enable them to make informed decisions.

Keeping up to date with the choices after post 18 education and the graduate job market is important to ensure the specialist information which the team provide is current.

Undertaking research and writing short reports for the wider team to consider on current employability trends enables the team to keep up to date.

A flexible and adaptable approach to work is important as activities and locations vary in one week.

Building relationships with the wider teams at UWE are important and representing the Pre HE Team at UWE or at external events is part of the role.

Experience of working in schools and influencing a school approach to Pre-HE preparation is important.

Having worked with students from a range of different ages, backgrounds and situations is helpful in understanding different approaches to career decision making.

In addition, experience of designing and delivering creative workshop activities with students is essential and in addition, facilitating workshops with staff (e.g. teachers) to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to work with students who could apply to higher education is also useful.

Understanding quality standards for careers information, advice and guidance in the context of learning and work is key to understand and in particular, how the team's activities fit in within the wider context.

A Postgraduate qualification in Careers Guidance or equivalent is essential.

This post also requires an enhanced DBS clearance.
