Instrument Technician / Assembler (Trainee) required by manufacturer of surgical instruments based in Wootton, nr Bedford. Initial training salary of GBP7.95/hr with increment once proficient. An interest / background in engineering or a related field would be highly desirable. However full training will be provided for the right candidate offering an ideal opportunity to learn a skilled trade.

We now require an Instrument Technician / Assembler to join our small team assembling, manufacturing and repairing instruments for microsurgery. These instruments are used in delicate and complex surgery and are manufactured using high grade materials and techniques. This is precision work, mostly through a microscope whilst applying a variety of techniques Instrument assembly, polishing, sand blasting & finishing procedures) so good hand/eye coordination is essential. You will be required to read and comprehend manufacturing drawings, specifications and supporting documentation.

You will need an eye for detail, a steady hand and patience as this position involves working with microscopes and fine hand tools. The successful candidate will ideally have some experience or an understanding of engineering or related field. However full training will be provides for the right candidate. The role requires you to balance product quality and working efficiency.
