SEN/EBD Teaching Assistant - (Psychology Graduate)
Behaviour Mentor in a Leeds Secondary School
This role is perfect for a resilient and ambitious recent graduate wanting to gain some paid experience before further training in the field of education or social work. To be considered you must be a high achieving graduate with a core Psychology related degree and strong A Levels, with some experience working within SEN or with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, although this does not necessarily need to be within a school setting.
As the SEN/EBD Teaching Assistant you will be based with the schools nurture group, which consists of mainly Year 7 - 9 pupils who have found the transition to Secondary difficult and require 1:1 and small group interventions. As well as assisting with general lesson support, depending on your prior experience you will be able to work alongside the SENCO and nurture lead practitioners to develop personalised interventions for pupils.
This is an amazing opportunity to gain paid experience in a school based setting prior to further training. Graduates who have done this role previously have gone onto teaching, educational psychology doctorates and social work. As well as working alongside leading practitioners in the SEN/EBD field, you will receive consistent training in areas of safeguarding, Team Teach, Autism awareness etc, and make a huge impact on the lives of young people.
The school is based just out of central Leeds, and is very accessible. It has recently had a new Headteacher who is dedicated to bring front line graduates in to impact pupils who need it most!
