English PGCE applicants - Gaining Secondary School experience

Protocol Education are recruiting for degree graduates (preferable 2:1 or above) who wish to apply for a PGCE in 2017/18 or who have an interest in working with Secondary School pupils.

At Protocol we work in partnership with schools across Swindon, Wiltshire, Bristol, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset and provide them with Teaching and Support on a day to day and long term placement supply basis.

Most PGCE courses ask for at least two weeks work experience in your chosen age range, so why not get that experience by working in a school and earning money at the same time! Schools invest a lot of time and energy into their graduates and often they end up completing their training course through that school!

There are four main roles that we offer in Secondary Schools. The one that closely resembles that of a Qualified Teacher is a Cover Supervisor'. In order to work as a Cover Supervisor with Protocol Education you must be a Degree Graduate, have a strong presence, be willing to learn and undergo in house training if you haven't got previous experience.

If you have less experience or wish to work with small groups / 1:1 with pupils there are support roles available. As an English graduate your understanding of the subject can make a significant difference to the pupils you work with.

Cover Supervisor-
Acting as an unqualified teacher, successfully manage behaviour of an entire class and ensure all work set is completed.

LSA- Working 1:1 with a child

TA- Assisting the class Teacher, and contributing to the whole class.

Intervention Specialist - working 1:1 or with small groups to raise attainment in your specialist area. The bulk of this work is in English, Maths and Science.
