A Principal Systems Engineer is required to work a permanent basis for our Defence client based in Edinburgh.

This is a permanent opportunity with a leading defence company.

Overview of the Principal Systems Engineer role

The systems engineering team in Edinburgh are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Fire Control Radar Systems Engineering group to work on cutting edge Fire Control Radar projects. The job involves working within an Integrated Project Team capturing and specifying the System requirements for a new generation Radar system for a fast jet platform.

Key skills required for the Principal Systems Engineer

• The prospective candidate must be experienced in systems engineering processes, life cycle and procedures, including system specification and verification methods and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with experience of multi-disciplinary teams. Experience of requirements management tools such as DOORS is essential, as is proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and other documentation tools.
• The following skills and experience are required/desirable:
• Capture the radar design as systems engineering requirements.
• Allocation of System requirements between sub-systems.
• Show traceability and establish verification methods of systems engineering requirements.
• Experience of Requirements Engineering
• Experience of working in cross-discipline Engineering teams
• Experience of Requirements definition and apportionment
• Experience of Verification Matrix definition
• Experience of DOORS is essential
• Familiarity with RF systems/Radar System design and operation is essential.
• Ability to liaise with other engineers and work as part of an IPT

The role is based in Edinburgh - commutable from Dundee, Perth, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Glasgow
