Weaver Vale Housing Trust has an exciting opportunity for a H&S Co-ordinator / Risk Assessor / Property Officer to join the team based in Northwich. You will be on a full time permanent basis with a highly competitive salary of £22,969 - £25,271.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a H&S Co-ordinator / Risk Assessor / Property Officer within the Neighbourhood Team at Weaver Vale Housing Trust.  Reporting to the Open Space Team Leader who  manages internal & external communal spaces, , you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of Risk and Health and Safety within the Neighbourhood Team, in particular relating to the team’s role in managing communal areas in flatted blocks. 

We are looking for a positive and proactive person who will bring knowledge and enthusiasm to improve the open space and communal area service. In this varied role you will be responsible for managing and developing the use of a range of systems within the team such as the Trust’s Housing Management System (QL), the Geographical Information System (GIS), and its Tree Database to ensure we continue to provide an excellent service to customers while increasing our efficiency.

Responsible for ensuring compliance and providing performance information relating to Health and Safety you  will have excellent attention to detail with highly developed problem solving and analytical skills as well as the ability to work in collaboration to identify, report on and make improvements.

Responsibilities of our H&S Co-ordinator / Risk Assessor / Property Officer

- Keep up to date with current statutory regulations and legislation relating to  the management of buildings and communal areas including continually reviewing and benchmarking work practices in relation to best practice and new developments

- Monitor compliance with all health and safety responsibilities as documented in the Trust’s Health and Safety Policy including ensuring compliance with safe working practices and managing risk, reporting to the Trust’s Health and Safety Forum and Group Audit and Assurance Committee as required

-Be responsible for ensuring all appropriate Risk Assessments used within the Open Space Team are completed, checking that all necessary mechanisms and action plans are in place and to report any concerns and ensure relevant action is taken

- Manage Service Charges relating to the Open Space Team including monitoring all Service Chargeable contracts and services to ensure they provide an excellent service to Customers and that costs are appropriate to the charges and carrying out the annual reviews and calculations

- Assist the Open Space Team Leader in the co-ordination of Work Placement opportunities within the Open Space team ensuring all appropriate support and guidance is provided to ensure a positive experience and to manage Health and Safety and risk

- Be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of maps relating to the Neighbourhood team within GIS including; calculating areas of land and costs both for the Neighbourhood and Legal Teams, calculating service charges and creating and developing layers where required for example due to new developments

Skills and experience needed to become our H&S Co-ordinator / Risk Assessor / Property Officer

- NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of demonstrable knowledge and experience in a relevant field

- Experience of carrying out Risk Assessments and a thorough understanding of the analysis of  the level, significance and scope of risk

- Knowledge of the legal and health and safety implications of managing buildings and flatted blocks

- Experience of analysing, interpreting and presenting data and performance information

- Highly developed collaboration skills to work in partnership internally on assurance and compliance

- Ability to work on own initiative and be self directed with the confidence to make effective decisions with limited supervision and excellent problem solving skills

- Full UK Driving Licence and in possession of a car insured for business use in order travel between sites
