Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

Having recently qualified in psychology are you now considering a career in education as a SEN teaching assistant?

Do you have a passion to support young learners who face additional barriers to learning due to their special educational needs?

Perhaps you are a confident, pro-active psychology graduate who wants to gain experience working in a school before embarking on an educational psychology?

- Psychology Graduate
- 1:1 SEN support
- Paid GBP60-GBP65 per day
- Starting in September
- Same school for the academic year
- Lovely & inclusive primary school
- Ladywood Area, Birmingham, West Midlands
- Supporting a Year 2 child who has autism
- Interviewing soon ready for September!

Located in a two-form entry primary school close to the Ladywood area of Birmingham and well-connected to local public transport links, this school is easily accessible by a number of bus and train routes. The ideal candidate should be confident and considerate, potentially with experience working with young people and SEN learners. Previous experience is not essential, but a drive and passion to support SEN learners definitely is!

You will be given enough training to fully be able to support the lovely Year 2 child who has autism and sometimes struggles to focus within lessons. At times your role will include taking the child to the fantastic sensory room which is within this school in order to allow the child to remain calm and happy. For the majority of the time you will be supporting the child within mainstream classes, however on occasion you will be required to support the child on a 1:1 basis outside of the classroom within interventions including some speech and language therapy. For this area you will be given support and training.

If you are an aspiring educational psychologist this role will provide you with excellent and varied experience at a competitive rate of pay. You will be in the same school for the academic year, allowing you to build good rapport with staff and students as well as allowing the Year 2 child to see a consistent role model throughout the year.
