As an academic learning mentor you will be given the opportunity to support students within small group interventions. Some of the students you will be supporting will be both those struggling to achieve their C grade, whilst others may be high-achieving A grade students, aspiring to gain A*'s in Maths. As you build up your confidence in the initial support role you will be given the opportunity to take responsibility for parts of some lessons so that you build experience of what it is like to teach. You will be welcome to help the maths department to plan for lessons and assess students learning, helping to produce next steps for learners, implementing interventions where necessary.

In September 2018 there may also be the option to join this school's school direct programme whereby you can train to teach mathematics without the cost of a PGCE. After a year in this academic learning mentor role you will feel fully embedded in to the school's culture and ethos, meaning that when you do train to teach here you will be confident and raring to go!

With a central Birmingham location and a train station which goes straight to the city centre, this secondary & sixth form is in an ideal location for those reliant on public transport and even has its own car park which is free to staff.
