I have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Senior Solutions Designer/Technical Architect for my key client based in Swindon. My client is a household name and one of the world's leading automotive companies.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Connected Car Department within the European R&D division of the business, a team which is shaping Connected Car Service across Europe. Ensuring critical data is securely transferred from the vehicle to the data gateway utilising mobile technology, while deploying "best of breed" security standards.
The successful candidate will be expected to be a key contributor (product owner) for the design and development of a cloud based, data oriented, connected service platform to which the hardware are being connected. This role would ideally suit someone with general PAAS and SAAS background that wishes to broaden their skills by influencing the Connected Car environment.
Supplier management is a key requirement ensuing quality and agreed timelines are met. Working within an extended European team, strong communication skills are essential for building strong and effective working relationships within and outside of the company. Awareness of the latest technology, IoT and cloud based environments is a requirement, allowing research to be conducted and adding value to the EU technical direction.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the design, test and deployment of the Connected Car Platform
- Delivery of the agreed data security model, ensuring customer data is secure at all times and data protection guidelines are followed
- Provide strong supplier management and robust contract negotiation to ensure cost, quality and timelines are tightly controlled
- Technical report writing, for third parties/suppliers, and non-technical, for management reviews
- Conducting research of latest technology, specifically mobile communication and data networks, PAAS and SAAS technologies, thus assisting in futureproofing connectivity protocols and security standards
- Activity planning and creating status reports, both formal and informal, task management and prioritisation
Skills and Experience:
- University Degree in Electronics Communication, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
- Proven knowledge of communication protocols for example and not limited to: TCPIP, HTTPS and MQTT
- Extensive software design/test and deployment experience
- Proven supplier management knowledge and experience
- Excellent network/applications integration experience with cloud based/IOT technology (desirable)
- Knowledge of major cloud services and IOT solutions
- Strong software design and development background (eg: Any OOP based language like C++, C#, Java) and computer science fundamentals and a deep love for technology
- Excellent and broad technical knowledge - Understanding of a wide variety of connectivity technologies and how they interact.
- Experience in telematics related supply chain (desirable)
- Knowledge of regulation requirements relating to data protection (desirable)
- An adept communicator, able to build good relationships across multiple complex teams is a key skill
- Proactive and must demonstrate high-level of self-motivation and ability to remain calm under pressure
