Application Development Manager
Working for the UK's leading Engineering Support Services organisation we are looking for an Application Development Manager. You will be managing the development software and interface team (Team of 6) delivering fleet management application solutions to the MOD.
Responsibilities
- Management of the Application Development service to ensure achievement of agreed SLA's and OLA's
- Management of the transition of Development code into the production environment. Ensure all changes are tested, documented and version controlled using TFS
- Active role in the department leadership team and Architecture forums
- Support the management and delivery of In-house applications and configuration of the relevant installations to ensure continuous service
- Provide a Release Management role for the promotion of application development code and configuration versions between environments
- Responsibility for process and procedures to ensure document configuration management, modification management, build management, version controls, and gate review documentation are adhered to.
- Management of the Development software and interface team. Career development and succession planning
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for In-house applications. Resolution of issues to a permanent fix
- You will be a subject matter expert in SQL server development and presentation layer software, Biztalk and other ESB software.
- Work with the Head of IT Solutions Delivery to ensure all developed applications and bespoke modifications are fit for purpose and deliver business value.
- Manage the acceptance and support of bespoke applications developed by third party companies. Perform code reviews and analysis, documentation reviews and migrate code into the appropriate environment
- Assist with the active monitoring of the costs charged to the IT Solutions Delivery team budget or appropriate project / minor works budget
Key Skills
- Extensive experience of Net, Classic ASP, PHP, Java, SQL Server, Microsoft IIS, Excel VBA, Microsoft Access
- Experience using Development tools and frameworks ; up to VMC5, TFS , Visual Basic
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Biztalk and other ESB's
- Experience of providing a Release Management role promoting code between and managing Development, test UAT and production environments
- Experience of implementing Application Lifecycle Management framework and policy
- Resolution of technical application issues and problems with the operational teams
- Experience of Development of new applications and enhancements to existing systems
- Managing the resolution queue of IT software application issues and problems through a Remedy/Service Desk platforms
- ITIL Foundation
- Experience of managing Developers and allocating work
