Salary: Unqualified rate: £20,155 - £29,037 per annum: Qualified rate: £23,178 - £33,340 per annum

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week

The College offers brand new state of the art facilities comprising of workshops, teaching classrooms, learning resource centres, restaurants, a theatre, a hair & beauty salon and associated facilities. The successful candidate will be a member of a team of over 300 academic and business support staff. The Construction Department is looking for a highly organised, motivated and inspiring Lecturer in Civil Engineering/Ground works to join its fast developing team.

The department is excited about a new employer-led project in developing learners through traineeships and apprenticeships all the way through to employment in the local sector to support our community.

This is a new and exciting position where the Lecturer will be able to use their creativity and passion in this developing curriculum.

You will be teaching programmes on levels 1 and 2 as well as part time adult courses. Subjects covered within the curriculum include Grounds work, CSCS, Surveying, Setting out, Drainage, Laying pavements, Steelworks and many more.

This role will delivering lessons on:

  • CSCS Delivery
  • CPCS Delivery
  • Health and Safety
  • Curb and slab laying
  • Setting out for groundsworks
  • Technical drawings
  • Drainage
  • Foundation types

Lecturer in Civil Engineering & Ground works Duties:

  • To undertake a teaching programme and all aspects of the teaching and learning process
  • To act as a Course Leader for designated course(s)
  • Responsibility for the quality and implementation of the curriculum
  • Assist with the development and design of the Civil Engineering Training Centre
  • To assist the Head of Department and Director of Curriculum in the management and review of the curriculum in accordance with College policies

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
  • Experience in Civil Engineering and Grounds Works

Experience in teaching and learning would be advantageous, although industry experience will be considered for those with the ambition of becoming an outstanding Lecturer. Fareham College will offer free teacher training to those wishing to enter the teaching profession.
