Practice and Job Overview
A well established, local firm of Chartered Accountants in South West Herefordshire/Welsh borders require an experienced practice accountant to join their current team within a senior position. This role presents an excellent opportunity to become part of a growing and forward thinking practice and to provide a prominent role within the firm.
Responsibilities
You will be predominantly responsible for managing a number of larger clients from a varied portfolio consisting of limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. You will be required to effectively and efficiently balance your workload, while maintaining a high level of client care.
Your main day to day duties will include:-
- The preparation and completion of year end accounts, CT600's and corporation tax computations.
- Preparation and submission of self assessment and personal tax returns.
- Co-ordination and management of payroll, VAT, CIS, and administration duties.
- Providing advice and guidance to clients on tax planning opportunities and be well versed in corporate and personal tax.
- Providing advice, support and guidance for junior staff, to include the review and approval of work undertaken.
- Delegating work and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Client take on and ongoing portfolio management.
- Providing recommendations and assistance in business growth through referrals and business networking.
- Assisting the practice to implement Making Tax Digital.
- General practice responsibilities and office management.
Requirements
- You must have previous experience working within a private practice and preferably at managerial level.
- You will need to hold ACCA or equivalent qualifications or be qualified by experience as a time served practice accountant.
- You should have a good knowledge of accounting systems, UK tax laws and accounting standards relevant to small businesses.
- The role involves significant interaction with clients and staff so a confident and positive attitude is a necessity.
- Hold excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
- Iris and Excel experience is desirable.
- QuickBooks and Sage experience preferred.
- PQE: Minimum 3+ years.
- Ability to work closely with the partners and within a small team.
