An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Product Developer, to join a well established company based in Woking, Surrey.

The position has been created by the demand for new products and is based in the electrical wiring accessories side of the company, within a small team, however there is opportunity to progress,

My client is a well established manufacturing company specialising in Electrical accessories.

Due to the nature of the role (understanding safety aspects, wiring/installing products) candidates without the 17th edition wiring regulations qualification will not be considered.

The role:

Duties & responsibilities:
• New Product Development; from scratch layout and functional design, prototyping, technical drawings, dealing with suppliers, ensuring compliance standards are met, product testing and support design of manufacturing processes etc.

• Bespoke Products Developments; dealing with end customers (architects, designers, general public etc.) to design their bespoke products

• Technical Queries; supporting internal staff and external customers and dealing with product related issues for example.

Experience:
•Must be qualified to 17th wiring regulations BS7671 - ESSENTIAL
•Electrical & mechanical engineering knowledge; both through appropriate qualifications (B. Eng, ONC, City & Guilds, NVQ) and through extensive hands on experience
•Experience of designing electrical products to BS/EN standards e.g. BS5733 or BS 1363 etc.
•Experience within an electrical accessory manufacturing environment (designing and manufacturing accessories)
•Experience with 3D CAD systems
•Knowledge of wide variety of materials & metal finishing's
•Basic workshop skills
•A few years experience within a similar role

Desirable skills & knowledge
•Knowledge & hands on experience of sheet metal fabrication methods, including press tools
•Experience/Knowledge of injection moulding
•Ability to assemble and modify products
•Ability to use electrical and mechanical test equipment

Package and hours:

The salary for this role is negotiable, but can be paying up to around GBP30k per annum, depending on skill set and experience.
