The Coal Authority has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer (Senior Design Engineer) to join their team based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. You will be on a full time permanent basis with a competitive salary of £30,283 to £42,160 dependent on experience
We are based in Nottinghamshire, England. We provide expert advice and creative solutions to manage the public safety and environmental issues from coal and metal mining. We have an ambitious 5 year plan to expand our services, providing advice and services to governments and public bodies in the UK and overseas.
As our Project Engineer (Senior Design Engineer) you will be providing advice on engineering matters to all levels of the organisation whilst being a part of a dynamic team answering of surface hazard calls and advising on the deployment of emergency response as required. Utilising your engineering expertise you will advise the team on technical issues involving the remediation of surface hazards and the management and restoration of spoil heaps. Many of these schemes are in challenging environments with multiple stakeholders & constraints and will require innovative & efficient solutions.
Responsibilities of our Project Engineer (Senior Design Engineer)
- Providing engineering designs, assessments, and advice to the team’s Project Management and Tip Management functions
- Ensuring consistency of approach and adherence to standards throughout the engineering function
- Identifying and implementing improvements to current practices and identify value for money opportunities
- Providing advice on engineering matters to all levels within the organisation, whilst being part of a rota system for hazard response to calls to hazard line
- Answering surface hazard calls and deploying emergency response as required
- Providing engineering expertise to the team on technical issues involving the remediation of surface hazards and the management and restoration of spoil heaps
- Acting in the role of designer under CDM regulations where projects require such a position
- Providing site specific hazard assessments and risk assessments
Qualifications and skills required to become our Project Engineer (Senior Design Engineer)
- Experience in civil engineering design
- Proven experience in civil/structural engineering
- Experience of project, risk and contract management
- Have a civil/structural engineering degree (BEng or MEng)
- Corporate member of an appropriate professional body
- A good knowledge of construction Health & Safety
- Project management skills
- Effective decision making
- Good verbal and written communications
- Ability to assimilate information and analyse data
- Team Working / Interpersonal relationship skills
- Computer literacy
