My client is an independent environmental planning and design consultancy who specialise in the provision of high quality ecology, landscape, archaeology and arboriculture services. Working within sectors including commercial and leisure, education, urban regeneration, energy and infrastructure, this organisation work on a wide variety of exciting and innovative projects. With several exciting new projects to work on, my client is actively seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join the team in their Shrewsbury office.

Personal Requirements

* Educated to at least degree level in an ecological or environmental-related discipline
* Proven consultancy experience, ideally within an environmental consultancy
* Experience of scoping, designing and leading habitat and species surveys
* Good working knowledge of mitigation design
* Membership, or eligibility for membership, of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
* At least one protected species licence, e.g. bat, GCN, dormouse
* Experience of preparing fee proposals
* Demonstrable experience of producing high quality technical reports
* Ability to work efficiently to given time and budget constraints
* Willingness to develop project management and client care experience

Role Responsibilities

Working as a consultant ecologist, you will provide support and technical skills to the ecology and wider team within the organisation, working on a range of challenging ecology and multi-disciplinary projects throughout the UK. You will play a role in implementing and designing Protected Species Surveys and Phase 1 and Phase 2 Habitat Surveys. Your responsibilities will also include analysing data and preparing high quality technical reports and documents, such as Ecological Impact Assessments and Ecological Appraisals.

You will liaise with a range of clients, ensuring excellent working relationships are maintained as well as identifying opportunities for follow-up business. You will work alongside wider teams within the company, made up of arboricultural consultants and landscape architects. You will ensure all work is carried out to the highest possible standards, providing the client with support throughout the all stages of their project.
