Wombwell is a former mining town about five miles south of Barnsley, seven miles north of Rotherham and 14 miles north of Sheffield. Wombwell has many amenities of its own including Cortonwood Shopping centre and an attractive stone high street. Admiral Taverns are looking to invest in this fantastic community pub with the right licensee.
Fantastic location on close to Wombwell town centre
Refurbishment planned
Large comunity pub with function and food potential
Trading style
The Sir George Arms is predominantly a wet led pub with its main income being driven from mid week events. It is very much a traditional community pub with a core loyal customer base driven from televised sport. There is further opportunity to increase footfall by introducing Sky Sports as the property has a low rateable value. There are currently no pool or darts teams but this is also an opportunity to develop trade. There is no food being served at the moment and this is a major opportunity as there is a kitchen, although not equipped at this stage. Externally there is a beer garden with children's play area. There is also a good sized car park with spaces for about 15 cars. Admiral Taverns offer a range of support under the 'Business Support Agreement' which is particularly advantageous for those who are new to the industry. This agreement will run for a set period of eight months, providing the licensee with bespoke training programmes, access to business insights from a range of industry experts, and an unrivalled portfolio of products and equipment.
Trade accomodation
Entrance to the pub is through its front door and porch, into a large open plan space with a bar to the right hand side. This space is split loosely into three trading areas. On the left is a games area with table tennis and darts room. To the right is the pool room which leads through to the main bar. The large servery services these two areas. The toilets are located off the main bar area. Behind the servery is a separate back bar room with it's own wash up and prep area. The is a further private area off the main bar which has a store room, private lounge and unfurnished kitchen. The general fixtures and fittings are in reasonable condition with a mixture of fixed and loose seating. There is a further two function rooms located on the first floor, however these are currently not is use and would need investment to be functional.
Private accomodation
The domestic accommodation is split over the first and second floor. On the first floor is the kitchen, lounge, bathroom and office. There are three good sized double bedrooms on the second floor. The domestic accommodation could do with redecorating.
