As a Senior Contracts Manager at HS2 you will lead a contract management team, principally responsible for overseeing the performance of our Development Partner during the design stage of Phase Two. You will also oversee pre and post contract administration of a portfolio of projects and lead relationship management with suppliers. As the Senior Contracts Manager you will be required to deputise for and support the Head of Contract Management, as required.
About the role:
Responsible for leading and developing the skills of a team comprising a Contracts Manager and Contract Management Assistant Lead the day to day commercial relationship with the Development Partner, ensuring a collaborative and integrative approach is taken across the different disciplines Making sure tasks delivered represent value for money and ensuring that fair and effective commercial management processes are implemented and maintained Responsible for working closely with the procurement department in the development and handover of all new work packages, ensuring contract management input at inception. Monitor expenditure against contract and budget, pro-actively manage all changes on the project, and pro-actively manage contracts risks register and contingency with the project delivery budgets. Liaise and work closely with the Project Controls team to ensure that periodic reporting and cost data are accurately managed for the periodic Cost for Work Done (COWD) and any variances against budget are explained in all commercial reports for the projects in the portfolio.
About You:
Responsible for deputising for the Head of Contract Management, as required Demonstrable experience in leading and managing commercial management teams through the planning, development and tendering stages of projects Experience of managing relationships and negotiating commercial agreements whilst maintain relationships with strategic suppliers Ideally have a degree a business, legal or engineering based subject Good Microsoft Office skills are a must for this role Well organised with excellent communication skills Track record working with procurement departments throughout the tender process to successful contract award and further setting up robust post contract administration processes to monitor and manage earned value Specific understanding of NEC contract terms and conditions would be an advantage Membership of the CIPS, RICS or similar recognised body Ability to author and present reports on contract management activities and issue resolution proposals
